A short stroll through Skala reveals small shops, mainly catering for the visitor. Many are classy clothes, jewellery and gift shops, alongside cafes and tavernas. The church is nestled in a small square.
We were drawn there one evening, by the sound of unaccompanied singing from within: a small group of men were practising for the forthcoming festival, singing in harmony together. It was enchanting, a real treat.
